Then I name the layer and apply it to all layers same as above. Then I lowered the opacity and painted over some more of her to blend. I used Texture Hose 3, started with a 100 % opacity and painted over the bottom. Create a new layer and using a textured brush, paint over the bottom. Step 6: Blend the background and the gif. Name the color and apply it to all the layers same as above. You can also use the color pick tool and check which color the background is. Now, create a new layer and fill it with the same color that you used for the background. You can press the “center” button, but unless the character is in the middle of the image that will just be a guideline. When you’ve done that, place the image where you want it, roughly in the center. I can’t give any exact numbers, but so that it looks something like the finished product at the start. Go to Image>Canvas size and make it bigger. If your GIMP is not in swedish, that will be another word. If it looks weird, you can press ctrl+Z and the color layer becomes one layer again. Then Filters>Animation>Playback, to see if you painted okay. Name the color layer, then go to Filters>Animation>Process Animstack Tags. Then, to apply the layer on all layers, you’re gonna need Animstack, see above tutorials for that. One trick for erasing just the paint on the character is putting the color layer in a layer mode where you can see through the layer. With soft brushes mistakes aren’t that visible. ![]() If you try to make it perfect and make a mistake, it will be visible. Use soft brushes, it will look better than the sharp one. I start by using a huge brush to paint over the background, then I take the eraser in a smaller size brush and erase from the character. This is the reason you want to gif a scene with around zero movement, otherwise the character will move outside of the paint. If you don’t know which color you want, just pick one and then use the hue-sat tool to change the color. I want my background to be pink, so I pick a pink color and on a new layer paint over the background with pink. I then save the curve and apply it, see above tutorials on how to do that. Pulling it down at the bottom makes the shadows cyan, which on the image makes it look more black. I pulled it up at the top to brighten the bright parts, up at the middle to brighten the middle values, and down at the bottom to add contrast.Īs you can see all the shadows are red, which I don’t want, so I play around with the red channel: For this edit you’ll want a bright coloring. Step 2: Get your caps and open them up in GIMP. The guy in the background (Leo) is not ideal, but since she’s barely moving it will be easy to erase him. ![]() There’s very little movement in it, but still some. ![]() You want a scene where the character barely moves. In an edit of this kind, this is super important. No coloring skills needed.ġ: Pick a scene. By rudimentary gif skills I mean, how to get caps, and then with GIMP produce a gif. Here are two ( 1 2) tutorials that will give you that. You will need rudimentary gif skills, Animstack and GAP. This tutorial will show you how to do this thing above with GIMP. # gimp # tutorial # mine Gif graphic tutorial for GIMP
